Andy Grant Visit

Andy Grant Visit

On Wednesday morning, we were delighted to welcome Andy Grant into school.  Andy has faced real adversity in his life – losing his Mum to Leukemia at a young age, then, having suffered life changing injuries in an IED explosion while serving in the Royal Marines in Afghanistan, Andy decided to have his leg amputated to give him a better quality of life.  Andy is now an Honorary Colonel in the Royal Marines and over the past 10 years has climbed some of the world’s highest mountains, learnt to surf in California, bungee jumped in New Zealand and is the fastest single leg amputee in the world over 10k.  Andy now uses his experiences to motivate and inspire others and has travelled all over the world sharing his story.  Students from years 7, 8 and 9 were lucky enough to hear Andy’s story and all left with a renewed belief that any challenges and difficulties can not only be overcome, but surpassed, with the right mindset.
