On this page you will find all of the transition information you need as we look forward to you joining us in September.
We appreciate that your child starting high school is stressful (even without the current pandemic) – but rest assured we are doing everything we can to make this transition as easy and enjoyable as we can.
This page will give you all the information, materials and contacts you need as you become part of our community. Please do not hesitate to get in touch. No question is too small.
Your child has secured a place at Co-op Academy Bebington for the forthcoming academic year. They are about to embark on a new and exciting journey so rest assured we are preparing to help make the transition to secondary school as smooth as possible.
Over the next few months we will be liaising with their primary schools to gather key information from the teachers who know your child best. These conversations will take place in June and staff will identify students who will benefit from additional support during the transition process. We run an extended transition support programme for those who we feel will benefit.
Covid restrictions mean we are unable to meet your child personally before the year 6 transition day on Friday 2nd July. Wirral Education Authority has also advised schools that they are unable to hold new starters’ events for parents’ onsite. Unfortunately, this means that the event planned for Thursday 24th June is cancelled. Instead, we will place resources on the school website within the Transition 2021 folder and this will include a virtual tour, Head Teacher’s welcome speech and various other useful resources.
As stated above, your child is invited to attend on induction day on Friday 2nd July. On this day they will have the opportunity to become familiar with school surroundings. The students will meet members of staff and other students who will be in their form. This will hopefully allay any fears about secondary and enable a smooth transition to school in September.
School begins at 09:00 on that transition day and finishes at 14:45. Students should aim to arrive at the main entrance where they will be welcomed by staff and current year 7 students. Time will be spent with form tutors, who will take them on a guided tour of the school and involve them in a range of activities including taster lessons.
Your child may buy lunch in the dining hall where a varied menu is available at a cost of approximately £2.60. A packed lunch may be brought if this is preferred. All children should attend in their current primary school uniform.
All year 7 students will also be invited to attend a summer transition camp. This will take place on 19th July at Co-op Academy Bebington and details are included in the leaflets attached. If your child requires a place at the camp, please complete the attached form and medical form if applicable. Please return the forms to school at the address supplied, before Friday 28th June. Places are limited so they will be allocated on a 1st come, 1st served basis. It is a fantastic opportunity to have fun and make friends prior to September. What is even better is that it is free of charge to new students.
We have previously sent out New Entrants’ Documentation for each child – it is imperative that this paperwork around your contact details and permissions forms for the various platforms is returned immediately. We use Parent Mail as our primary communication system so need parents emails to utilise this facility. If we have the permissions form we can ensure that we have all student logins set up prior to September making life so much easier. If you have not received or lost the booklet please contact the main office for help – firstname.lastname@example.org they will be on hand to help with any urgent questions. We will not be able to start your child in September without the information we require.
Please note that the start date for Year 7 is Friday 3rd September. We look forward to you joining our school community.

School Uniform is available to buy from Wirral Uniform in the Pyramids Shopping
Precinct and The Other Uniform Store at Brimstage Hall Courtyard.
We have been in touch with them to find out stock availability and ways to shop for
uniform under the current restrictions and here is a summary of their replies:
Wirral Uniform: They are well stocked with Co-op Academy uniform and the shop in
Birkenhead has now reopened. They have implemented social distancing and other
measures to reduce risk to staff and customers. Trying on will not be permitted and
only 1 parent/guardian per child will be allowed into the shop. They are encouraging
parents to buy early to avoid queuing and to order online at wirraluniforms.com for
either home delivery or click and collect if possible. They have extended their returns
policy to 60 days. They have said they will open for Sunday appointments for parents
of children with special needs. Tel: 0151 647 9588
The Other Uniform Store: They have residual stock which will be prioritised for new
Year 7 pupils if necessary. They are operating an appointment system on a half
hourly basis, allowing two families into the shop at a time, for sizing purposes:
http://www.schoolstuff.direct/appointments/ Opening hours have been extended to
include Sundays to help with demand for appointments. Sizing samples are
available and these will be steam cleaned after every use, allowing them to
continually use the garments. They strongly advise customers to order online and
their cut-off date for all orders is the 16 th August. Further details from:
