Recycle Week 2024

Now in its 21st year, Recycle Week is Recycle Now’s flagship annual event. A celebration of recycling across the nation, galvanising the public into recycling more of the right things, more often.

Here is some information from Mrs Hopkins on why Recycle Week is so important!

Waste Stats

  • UK households throw away £470 of food every year

  • 18 million tonnes of waste goes to landfill a year in the UK

  • On average, 44% of household rubbish is recycled

  • On the Wirral it was 33% - below the national average

  • Less than 20% of all used clothing and textiles are recycled
