Absolute Chemistry Programme

Absolute Chemistry Programme

This week the Science department took 60 students from Year 7 to Liverpool John Moores University as part of the Absolute Chemistry programme, a University outreach programme we have been involved with for nearly a decade!

During the visit, students investigated exothermic and endothermic reactions. They started by dissolving different substances and checking for temperature changes. Then they helped plan and execute an experiment testing different acid concentrations, and looking for temperature changes in a neutralisation reaction.

In the afternoon they were in the lecture theatre and spent some time looking at STEM careers and the qualities that different scientists need for their job.
